"Yes, yesterday there were students who had conducted transactions with commercial sex workers at a rate of Rp180 thousand, but before making the relationship the person concerned was arrested," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Commissioner Pol A.M Kamal, Tuesday 12 March 2019.

According to Kamal, the pimps in Wamena disguise the prostitution transaction by opening a restaurant, besides that he also prepares a place after the transaction.

Now, said Kamal, Jayawijaya Regional Police continues to investigate a resident in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency with the initials M, 48 years old who is suspected of being a pimp who always brings commercial sex workers to Wamena.

It is suspected that he brought dozens of girls from outside Papua. At present dozens of girls will be sent home to their hometowns. "A woman named M as a pimp will be processed by law and charged with the article on human trafficking," he said.

Kamal added that dozens of commercial sex workers in Wamena had previously been returned to their hometowns, but the prostitute came back to Wamena. "These women were brought in from Java and Manado," Kamal said.

Previously, on Monday, March 11, 2019, a number of these women were arrested by police in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency from two different places, namely at the Pikey and Homhom T-junction, Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency.

After being questioned at the Wamena City Police Station, the sex workers were taken to the Jayawijaya District Office. They were given social sanctions by the Jayawijaya Regent, Jhon Richard Banua.
